KUALA LUMPUR: The independent non-executive chairman of PRG Holdings Bhd, Tan Sri Datuk Seri (Dr) Mazlan Bin Lazim, has resigned from the board of the company one week after he was re-elected during the company’s annual general meeting (AGM).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on July 2, Mazlan cited "increasing personal and professional commitments" as the reason for his resignation.
Typically, chairmen of companies do not stand for re-election only to resign a week later, unless something has changed.
On June 25, shareholders of PRG voted down three of the six resolutions tabled at the company’s AGM, including proposals on directors’ fees and allowances, a mandate to issue shares, and a share buyback.
Mazlan’s re-election was approved by shareholders at the same AGM.
